GREAT DAIRY OUTPUT.
REMARKABLE EXPANSION THREE MONTHS' PRODUCTION. INCREASE OVER 11 PER CENT. [BY TELEGRAM!. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Friday. Remarkable increases in the output of dairy produce this season arc shown by tile grading return's for the three months ended October. The butter gradings are higher by 8.60 per cent, itnd cheese gradings by 20.43 per cent., as compared with the corresponding period of last season. The butter-fat production shows an increase of over 11 per cent. The increased output should go far i Q counterbalancing the effect of the lower prices ruling this season. The figures of the dairy division of the Department of Agriculture show that the salted butter graded for October, /1930, was 11,073 tons and the unsalted 419 tons, a total of 11,492 tons, compared with 10,941 tons salted and 230 tons unsalted, a total of 11,171 tons for October, 1929, an increase of 2.37 per cent. For the three months ended October, 1930, the respective quantities were 21,302 tons and 649 tons, a total of 21,951 tons, compared with 19,871 tons .and 341 total of 20,212 tons for the corresponding period of the preceding season, an increase of 8.60 per cent.The cheese graded for October, 1930, showed an increase of 13.97 per cent, compared with October, 1929. The quantities for the three months ended October, 1930, were White, 10,131 tons, coloured, 5177 tons, a total of 15,308 tons, compared with 7778 tons white and 4933 tons coloured, a total of 12,711 tons for the corresponding period of the preceding year, an increase of 20.43 per cent. Converting these figures into the butterfat equivalent there is an increase of 11.193 per cent, in the butter-fat production for the three months as compared with the corresponding period of the 1929-30 season. ' Stocks held in the various grading ports at October 31, 1930, were:—Butter 4488 tons, cheese 3500 tons, as compared with ■ 3873 tons butter and 3850 tons cheese held on October 31, 1929. if ■
