ARTS AND CRAFTS.
The League of New Zealand Penwomen held a very brilliant and successful gathering on Friday afternoon, when the art and crafts section held an exhibition and sale of handcraft Mrs. Cluett,, president, opened the proceedings with a few words, after which the large gathering inspected and admired the ex* hihits. Every variety of hand-work was represented. China, painting, handweaving, dainty little articles in watercolour, barbola work, leather, brass and pawter, suede and marquetry pottery, too, had a large share of attention. One interesting table was that of books by New Zealand' authors, which was very popular. Exhibitors were: Mrs. Vigers, Misses Melville, Mrs. Harrison-Smith, Miss Gardner. Miss Poster, Miss Mulvaney, Mrs. Calling, Mrs. Webber, Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Ryburn, Miss Young, Mrs. Spicer. Mrs. Buchanan. During the afternoon tea was dispensed.
