AUSTRALIAN CANTEEN FUND
TRUST DISBURSES £746,612. Over a period nf 10 years flio Australian Imperial Forco Canteens Funds Trust has made 49,674 grants, totalling £746,612 to claimants in need of assistance. Of this sum £340,178 was paid to 18,715 widows and other dependants of deceased soldiers, and £406,434 to 30,959 disabled soldiers. Tho tenth annual report of tho trust states that the canteen moneys are now practically exhausted, and within a few weeks the fund "must be definitely closed." In addition, the trust administers the Sir Samuel McCaughoy bequest for the technical training of soldiers' children. Already 8337 children have received, or at present are in receipt of, assistance. At Juno 30 last 3500 were in training or in apprenticeship, and in all at least 13,000 children will benefit by tho bequest.
