LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
PAFATOETOE CLUB'S SOCIAL. Mr. A. w: Hal', M.P., presided at the annual smoke concert of tho Papatoetoo League Football Club, and, in congratulating the club and its officials, said that in many ways Parliament was like a big football club The Parliamentarian who sought to play the game alone and was selfish was like the football player who did not pull with his team He impressed upon tho players tho wisdom of always playing the game in earnest, and playing to win. A lengthy toast list was honoured and complimentary reference was made to the splendid progress made by the Papatoetoo Club since its inception four years ago, following upon tho entry of tho local school team in the schools' competition. It was intimated that ' well-wisher of the gamo had presented two trophies for the most improved local schoolboy player and for the best behaved member of the school team. The trophies would bo handed over at the official opening of the Children's Park on November 22.
