THE TWO MINUTES' SILENCE.

Sir, —Next Tuesday will bo Armistice Day, when tho citizens of Auckland and suburbs arc requested to halt for a brief space of two minutes to observe complete silenco in honour of our glorious doad. In past years this silence has been more or less loyally observed in tho city, but in tho near suburbs cruelly ignored, very little notice being taken of it. I would suggest that the church bells in every district for at least a ten-mile radius of the Chief Post Office bo tolled for, say, five minutes before eleven o'clock to remind forgetful people of the day, so that strict silenco may bo observed. G. R. Hampshire.
