YACHTING SEASON.
OPENING DAY FIXED. COMBINED PROGRAMME. FIXTURES OF CLUBS ALLOTTED. A decision to hold tho official opening of tho yachting season in Auckland on Saturday, November 22, was made at tho annual meeting of tho Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association last evening. Mr. E. B. Webster, vice-chairman, presided over a good attendance of delegates. Tho annual report slated that two rather momentous conclusions were reached at the Dominion conference. Tho first was tho approval of a remit calling for tho use of master moulds to check Bona type craft prior to each contest. Steps have yet to be taken to make this iemit effective. The other matter was a decision to form a Dominion organisation to cover yachting in its larger sphere. Tho drafting of preliminary rules had been left in tho hands of tlio Auckland Association and tentative suggestions were sent forward some months ago. Replies and suggestions from tho provincial organisations were now awaited. No delinito results could bo expected for some considerable time. The balance sheet showed a credit balance. Tho following officers were elected:— Chairman, Mr. G. H. T. Palmer; vicochairman, Mr. J. 11. Frater, hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. C'. J. Collings; hon. solicitor, Mr. J. Alexander; hon. auditor, Mr. E. W. Beaumont; hon. measurers, Messrs. E. J. Kelly and A. V. Tyer; starter, Mr. G. Mobberloy; assistant starters, Messrs. E- Culhano and 11. Kirk ham; timekeeper, harbour races, Mr. G. E. Laycock; assistant timekeepers, Messrs. R. Qtiinn and H. Kirkham; judge, harbour races, Mr. G. Miller; recorder, Mr. A. J. Collings; judge, cruising races, Mr. E. J. Kelly. It was decided that tho opening and closing days of tho season should take the form of combined cruising and harbour races under tho auspices of the association. The following dates wore allotted the various clubs for the 1930-31 racing season : November 22.—Opening day (combined races). November 29.—Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. December 6.—Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron; Victoria Cruising Club (cup day); New Zealand Power-Boat Association (harbour races). December 13.—Akarana Yacht Club. (Race to Awaroa Bay and harbour events). December 20.—Tamaki Yacht, Club. January 17.—Ponsonby Cruising Club and Victoria Cruising Club (combined races) ; New Zealand Power Boat Association. _ January 24.—Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron; Takapuna Boating Club (Cornwell Cup race). January 31.—Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron; Takapuna Boating Club (annual regatta). February 7.—Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron ; Akarana Yacht Club. February 14.—Victoria Cruising Club (annual regatta). February 28.—Ponsonby Cruising Club (annual regatta); New 'Zealand PowerBoa t Association. March 7.—Northcote and Birkenhead Regatta, Royal Now Zealand Yacht Squadron; New Zealand Power-Boat Association. March 14. —Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (Governor-General's Cup); Tamaki Yacht Club (annual regatta); New Zealand Power-Boat Association March 21.—Akarana Yacht Club; Victoria Cruising Club. March 28.—Devonport Yacht Club. „ -April 11.—Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron; Ponsonby Cruising Club (Lip. ton Cup contest). April 13.—Combined closing day.
