PROBATION GRANTED.
UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES. In unusual circumstances, Mr. Justice Herdman yesterday granted probation to Harold Percival Hedges, aged 31 (Mr. Allan Moody), who had pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court to a charge of unlawful carnal knowledge. His Honor said the case was a curious one, and it had come to his knowledge that Hedges had since married the girl. The probation officer reported favourably about bin) and so did the police. The circumstances being peculiar and exceptional, ho proposed to admit him to probation for two years, and require him to pay the costs of the prosecution, £8 6s.
