The Loader of the Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland, sponsor of the bill, expressed appreciation of the committee's report. Ho said tho Minister of Mines had assured him that the provision recommended by the committee would be made and that covered the main clause of. tho bill. Ho realised that the other clauses involved appropriations.
The Goldfields and Mines Committee in a further report recommended that in view of the assurance given by the Minister that the subject matter of the two other clauses would be discussed by him with the miners' representatives, the bill should not be allowed to proceed.
