The report from Lake Coleridge thia evening was the most reassuring sinca the power shortage first threatened Canterbury. Steady rain fell in the Harper River watershed this afternoon and the inflow from the river had greatly in. creased. The level of the lake should certainly show a rise when the gauge is read to-morrow morning. It may be a long time yet, however, before tha streets of Chrislchurch can' be lighted at night- • .
