DOINGS OF AUCKLANDERS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.'] LOXDOX, "August sa. Since the Lambeth Conference the Archbishop of New Zealand has attended the 1300 th anniversary of the Norwich Cathedral 1 , has paid a visit to the Earl and Countess of Liverpool, at Hartsholme Hall, and has been touring in Somerset, Devonshire and Cornwall. Archbishop Averill hopes to go to the English Lakes and to Scotland. On October 4 he will leave England for Italy, joining the Orama at Naples on October 16. ; Mr. W. A. Johnston (Auckland) spent Jie early part of August at the Mumbles, South Wales, with his uncle, and then left Southampton by the Montclare for Canada. He will be present at the opening of the Canadian Exhibition in Toronto and will then spend about two months touring in Canada and the United States prior to connecting with the Niagara for Auckland on October 15.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Manning (Hamilton) and Sir. and Mrs. T. C. List (New Plymouth) are travelling together on the Continent. Mr. and Mrs; List will return to London from Paris, but Mr. and Mrs. Manning will continue south to the French Reviera and Rome, finally embarking for home at Naples. Mr. G. A. Empson' (Te Awamutu) and Miss Stella Empson are greatly enjoying their visit to the Old Country. They attended most of the functions that goto make up a London "season," including race meetings, military pageants, the Royal garden ' party at (Buckingham Palace—to name only a few —and then they left for a motor tour of Western England, The next intention is to go to Scotland, via the Shakespeare Country and the English Lakes, and then to to the Channel Islands to stay with New Zealand friends. 30. Mr. A. A. Creamer (Onehunga) travelled recently from London to Berlin, where lie spent three weeks. He also went to Oberammergau for the Passion Play. This week he. is leaving for New' York on his way home. Auckland should bo reached on January 12. Mr. W. Gaw (Auckland) arrived by the Rangitano on a business mission, to see his principals in London. He expects to remain for about two months, and 1o bo in New Zealand again in November. , Tho Rev. Dr. J. T.. Pinfold will leavJ Southampton on September 26 bv tha Rangitane. While he was in Birmingham recently he visited Lutterworth with the object, of learning more about John Wycliffe. Research' in regard to John Wesley has also been interesting Dr. Pinfold. "A copy of his "Fifty Years in Maoriland," with a foreword by_Mr. blsdon Best, has been accepted by the Kmg as well as by the Prince of Wales and Earl Jellicoe. Tho Bishop of Melanesia has many engagements of a public nature to fulfil during this month. He will be preaching twice at Leeds, speaking at a missionary service at Barnslev, addressing meetings nt Miifielcl, Wakefield. Bournemouth and other centres interested in Melanesia.
