CAPSIZE OF CANOE.
YOUTH'S NARROW ESCAPE. ONLOOKER PLUNGES TO RESCUE. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON. Wednesday. Owing to the capsize of a light canoe in which he was paddling on the Hamilton lake, a youth, George Troutbeck, had a narrow escape from drowning yesterday afternoon. The mishap occurred a short distance from the shore and the youth, who was fully clothed and unable to swim, attracted the attention of people near by with his cries for help. He was assisted ashore by Mr. Maurice Tombs, who plunged into the water felly dressed. Beyond suffering from slight shock the youth soon recovered from the effects of his immersion.
