SOCIAL EVENING.
WOMEN TEACHERS. The Auckland branch of the Women Teachers' Association held a social gathering in Myers Kindergarten on Friday, to welcome Miss Andrews, the Dominion president of the association. The room was decorated with bowls of Iceland poppies and other Bpring flowers. Miss Andrews was a delegate to the recent PanPacific Conference at Honolulu, where she represented the women teachers of New Zealand on the education section. Miss F. J. Taylor presided over a gathering of 80 members, and warmly welcomed the guest of honour. Miss Andrews gave an inspiring address on her impressions of the conference, dealing more particularly with the work of the education section. She paid high tribute to the way this section had been controlled by Miss Sims, of Christchurch, who had acted as its leader; and the speaker said that the 44 delegates in this section all took part in most instructive and interesting discussions. Musical items were rendered by Mrs. Chisholm, Misses R. Kennedy, Caseley and Bagnall. Supper brought a most enjoyable evening to a close.
