COMPETITION WINNER.
WAIKATO CHILDREN'S CAMP. SUCCESSFUL AUCKLANDER. [in: telegram.—own correspondent.] Hamilton, Sunday. The competition held in connection with the Waikato Commercial Travellers' Association's campaign to raise funds to provide buildings at the Port Waikato children's camp, was concluded yesterday, when the winner was announced. The prize was a new motor car and it was won by Mr. G. E.'Gardner, care of Macky, Logan and Caldwell, Limited, -Auckland. The competition consisted of estimating the number of shot in a bottle. The contents wero counted yesterday under the supervision of the Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, and the number was found to be 4414. No one estimated the correct number, but three competitors put down the number 4413. They were Air. Gardner, Mr. M. 11. Wilson, Taupiri, and Miss D. Irwin, Te Awamutu. A draw was held and Mr. Gardner was successful. Ihe competition was a success from a financial point of view. Tenders have been let for the erection of permanent sleeping quarters at the camp, and an official ceremony will be held on the site on November 11.
