APPRENTICES DO WORK.
COURT IMPOSES FINES

Charges of having performed electrical work without being holders of wiremen's licences were admitted by two apprentices, Ivan Baxter and Keith Alexander Ashcroft, in tbo Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-day, while tho manager of the firm which employed thorn, Malcolm Kawhia Willison, admitted a charge of having permitted the apprentices to do tho work.
Mr. 11. T. Gillies, who prosecuted, said tho first two defendants had been employed in wiring a shop in To Awamutu. For a time a licensed wiroman, William Patrick O'Brien, supervised their work but for two hours they had been working ulono when tho inspector called. They had been fitting wires in a conduit in connection with a radio installation.
Mr. S. S. Preston, for defendants, said Baxter had only a week left to complete his apprenticeship. O'Brien had been called away to do a country job. Baxter and Ashcroft wero convicted and were ordered to pay the costs, 10s, and £1 Is solicitor's fee. Willison was fined £3. and was ordered to pay the costs, 10:-;, and £1 Is solicitor's fee.
