SUPPLIES OF POWER

KING'S WHARF STATION. ADDITIONAL COST INVOLVED. The increased cost of the Auckland Power Board's supplies of power generated at King's Wharf station, owing to the breakdown at Araptini, was the subject of a conference yesterday between representatives of tho hoard and tho Public Works Department. The Auckland Power Board was represented by the chairman. Mr. W. .7. Holdswortli, and the general manager, Mr. R. 11. Bartley. Mr. J. K. Oavey, inspecting electrical engineer, of Wellington, and Mr. T. MacLennaii, district electrical engineer, of Hamilton, represented the department.

Mr. Holdswortli stated last evening that the Minister of Public Works had said the power boards would have to pay no more for their supplies becauso of the breakdown at Arapuni. Although it would not, be known for some timo what the additional cost would bo of operating King's Wharf station, the board had prepared a basis which had been submitted to (he department's officers. This would be placed before fho Minister of Public Works in Wellington for consideration, and it had been fully explained in the discussion with tho department's oflicei.s yesterday.
