AUSTRALIAN BOWLERS.

VISIT TO NEW YORK. TOURNEY PLANNED FOR 1932. NEW YORK* August 23. The Australian bowlers who attended the Empire Games in Canada were the guests of the British Luncheon Club at a luncheon to-day. At the suggestion of Mr. Herbert Brookes, Commissioner. General for Australia to the United States, the Club wirelessed a resolution of sympathy to the Prime Minister of tho Commonwealth, Mr. J. H. Scullin, and good wishes for success at the Imperial Conference.

.Mr. Brookes praised (he bowlers, saying: " Their influence in Britain, as America, is far greater than if they had been official ambassadors."

Mr. Harry Furze, a former president of the American Bowlers' Association, stated that plans were under way for a bowling tournament between American, English, Australian, South African, Irish and Scottish teams, in conjunction with the 1932 Olympic Games at Los Angeles. Mr. Alley stressed the need for Empire unity. He said that during their travels they had observed unemployment in England, fur which ho blamed the Empire's apparent unwillingness to purchase English goods.
