MUSICAL RECORDS.

Two attractive tenor songs have been recorded for Brunswick by Mario Chamlee. Both are excellently sung to a very fine orchestral accompaniment. f j'he titles are " Paquita," a fascinating Spanish serenade, and Tosti's " Ideale."

The Roumanian Gypsy Orchestra, conducted by Tanase Codolban, contributes two interesting selections in its latest recording for Parlophone. Both numbers are very colourful and richly orchestrated. The titles are "La Backou," and " A Caucasian Pot-Pourri."

Sibelius;' tone poem, " Finlandia," is a popular subject with bands and orchestras. A very attractive recording of it has been issued by His Master's Voice, with Dr. Malcolm Sargpnt conducting the Symphony Orchestra. The recording is excellent.

A thoroughly delightful opera of the frankly melodious type is Strauss' " Gipsy Baron." The Berlin State Opera House Orchestra has included two very fine records from this work in its latest recording for Parlophone. They are the finales to Acts I and 11. Fricder Weissmann is the conductor.

Erica Morini contributes two fina violin records in the recent His Master's Voice catalogue. The first is Tchaikowsky's " Hunicresque," played in Kreisler's arrangement, and with wonderful tone. The second piece, " The Zephyr," is played with elegance and a well-varied tone.

.'Many fine records have been made by tho Edith Lorand Orchestra, but the latest di»c released by Parlophone is one of the most attractive yet offered. The first item is " Aubade Printaniere," a molodious piece of dainty smoothness, and the second is in a more spirited vein. It.M titlct is "II Soldato Valoroso," by Oscar Strauss.

Two interesting Strauss selections have been played by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, to Brunswick recording. The first is the "Tales from the Vienna Woods," a piece which has enjoyed quite a voguo recently among recording artists. The second selection. " Artist's Life," will be familiar to all lovers of Strauss, and its rendering will be found very attractive.
