DANGERS OF THE ROAD.

Sir,—lt is not only the hog that endangers all by his reckless speed that we meet—-there is another variety even more dangerous, as tho following will illustrate. Last Wednesday my motorcycle was doing about 25 miles, overtaking a slow car on the'rise* past Vincent Road, on the Mount Albert Road, going toward Royal Oak. When f was within 50yds. of the car, it slowly moved out to the right. I did the same, to pass it correctly. Presently it moved out still further—so did 1, wishing it would keep a straight course, for I was now within 4yds. of it. Then to my horror I saw the front wheels suddenly locked hard over to the right with never a sound or sign of such intention! f had only time to swing hard over to the. right also, then as swiftly to the left, almost flicking the wheels as I flashed across the front of the cur. Had I slackened speed in the least. I would not now be penning this, substitute a car for the cycle and there would have been a "head-on" crash of some account. F. 11.
