FIJIAN ENDURANCE.
DARE MEAD IN BLAZING SUN.

A Fijian, named Taniola, drifted back and forward over tho Koro Sea for nino days, lying on a hatch cover with baro head in a blazing sun. Ho lay at death's door in tlio Lovuka, Hospital for weary weeks, 'l'o-day ho is at work again, apparently none the worse of his adventure.
Now news conies from Lovuka, that three Fijian women had been brought to Lovuka from Nakogai Island, where they had been found in a small water-logged dinghy lying on the beach. The boat was empty, except for a small oar. Tlio three women set out from their town in (lau Island for a neighbouring village to buy some yagona root for making kava. Suddenly a south-east gale came up and blew the boat out to son. For three nights and four days (he women drifted about the Koro Sea without attracting attention from tlio passing cutters and other craft. All the foot! the women had was a few cocoanuts, and no water. They were quite exhausted when found, but later recovered.
