At the Empire Games at Hamilton the sculling championship was won by Peai'cc (Australia) by three lengths. Beresford and Bradley, both of England, were second and third, and Wright (Canada), fourth. New Zealand won the Empire rowing championship for double sculls with coxswain, taking the lead at the start and steadily pulling away from McGill University and British Guiana. Time, 8m 2s. Bantam-weight.—Nizler (England) defeated Kellar (Canada), on points. Light-weight.—Rolland (Scotland) defeated Canzan (Canada), on points. Heavy-weight.—Stuart (England) defeated Skimming (Canada), on a technical knock-out. In the bowling doubles New Zealand (McWhanneil and Fielding) 21, beat South Africa (Hall and Giovanette), 13; England (Hills and Wright), 17, beat Canada (Reid and Moore), 14. By this victory New Zealand becomes the chief rival to the Mother Country for tho doubles supremacy. In the rinks competition New Zealand 18, lost to South Africa, 19; Scotland 21, beat Canada 19. The England rink were crowned as champions. Canada and South Africa tied for second place.

SERIOUS DISPUTES. CHANGE OF ROWING COURSE. ELLIOTT OFFENDS STARTER. (Received August 22, 7.15 p.m.) TORONTO, August 21. Two serious disputes threatened to disrupt the Empiro Games at Hamilton today. With tho scullers' nerves badly on edgo owing to tho postponement of the races because of the bad weather, the attempts officially made to change the courses did not meet with general satisfaction. It is rumoured that some of the contestants, possibly the English and various Canadian competitors, would withdraw, even although tho Burlinghain course, a few miles from the city, had been definitely fixed to-night. Another dispute aroso in the 100 yds. Hat raco heat, which Williams won. The starter, 'E. J. Holt, of England, ordered A. J. Elliott, of New Zealand, out of tho raco on his second false break. The crowd jeered and tho heat was delayed for five minutes and Elliott was restored to his mark.
