AUCKLAND SOCIETY.
FIXTURE NEXT MONTH. Prospects' are bright for the narcissi show to be held by the Auckland Hor« ticultural Society in the Unity Hall, Upper Queen Street, on September 11 and 12. Great interest is being taken iq the show by growers and entries are ex-< pected from all parts of Auckland and from other centres in the North Island. The society lias endeavoured to meeb all by providing both open and amateur classes. There are 24 classes for narcissi in the open class and 40 classes are pro* vided for the amateur and novice exhibitors. Prominent among the competitiva classes is that of the Daffodil Challenge Bowl for 18 varieties (open class) and the Hall Challenge Cup for the besb Auckland-raised seedling. Apart from the exhibits of narcissi, there are classes for miscellaneous flowers.' One of the most popular is the collection of cut flowers. Classes are also included for competition among children. Entries will close on September 9.
