GRAMOPHONE RECITALS.
SOME ENJOYABLE MUSIC.
In conjunction with Music Week, three interesting and instructive gramophone recitals were given during the week by Mr. Carl Atkinson. The opening £rogrammo was giver, on Monday evening, when selections from Schubert were given, Miss Thco. Ilalpin and Miss Mollis Atkinson being the assisting artistes. The second part of the programme of gems from French opera, in which "Faust" predominated. Two other melodious operas represented in the selection of records were Thomas' " Mignon, ' tind Offenbach's " Tales of Hoffmann. Mr. J. P. Hulme assisted with a violin solo. Tho second programme, given on Tuesday evening, comprised selections from tho Italian operas, " lligoletto," Aida, " Othello," " Barber of Seville," and "II Trovatore." Mrs, H. A. Kevan assisted with songs. The second portion of tho programme consisted of a fine selection of Maori ditties," negro spirituals, and sea shanties, tho assisting artists boing Master Pat. Cooper and Mr. A. G. Grade. Tho final programme on Wednesday was dovoted to romantic and lighter music, Miss Aimco Clapham and Miss Phyllis Graham being the assisting Soloists.
