ROSE PETALS AND LAVENDER.
A well-known country hostess with whom I stayed the othor day has the happy thought of collecting dry rose petals all through the summer, remarks a writer overseas. She gets masses of them, and when her drawing room is swept in the morning, her housemaid scatters them all over the floor and brushes them up with the dust. On other mornings the floor is strewn with lavender, and in either caso the result is delightful, for the room smells so fragrant when one goes into it. A good idea, don't you think, so begin collecting your rose petals as soon as possible.
