HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.

A BUSY MONTH. ' The monthly meeting of the rouncil of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary was held on Wednesday. Mrs. Alfred Kidd was in the chair, and there were also present Mrs. A. D. Campbell, and 16 members of the council. Mrs. Wettenhall reported that the Ways and Means Committee had organised a bridge party during the month in aid of the lunds, and members had given assistance with other activities. Mrs. • Potter reported on the work of the Mount Eden branch, whose members visit the hospital and also the homes of sick and needy folk. Their sewing committee sent in 34 garments to the depot during July, in addition to those distributed by their own committee. Mrs. Chapman, secretary of the Onehunga branch, reported that their activities had been carried on as usual. Members meet weekly to sew and mend at the infirmary, where they also distribute books and papers and sweets to the inmates each month. A very enjoyable concert was given in tho wards and was much appreciated. Mrs. Tiarks reported that her motor excursion committee had taken patients for their usual weekly drives, and 25 were taken to their homes during the month by Mrs. Murdoch Smith's committee. The City Sewing Circle had been very busy and had contributed 290 garments for July. Mrs. Hammond Ilyde roported on her purchasing and distribution for the month, and also on her work as organiser for the A.H.A. Mrs. Nutter, secretary of the junior branch, spoko of the work done by this band of young workers. They had been busy finishing up their work for St. Helens Hospital before closing for the holidays, and will carry on again when tho schools reopen. The visiting committee, with Mrs. Panklmrst as convener, had visited the hospital each week distributing comforts and reporting cases in need of help. The secretary reported that during July 1659 garments were distributed from the depot to 112 families and 37 families were given food orders. A parcel was received from the Birkdalo Women's Institute during July and from other outside workers for the depot.
