WILHELM BACKHAUS.
After a most successful tour of tho South Island, Wilhelm Backhaus, tho world-famous pianist, will pay a return visit to Auckland, and will give a farewell recital at the Town Hall next Thursday evening. Thus Auckland will have the distinction of being tho first city to receive Backhang and the last to bid him farewell. Included in tho programme chosen for Thursday evening's recital aro threo Beethoven works, Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C Sharp Minor, Schumann's Novelettes in F Major and E. Major, Chopin's Polonaiso in A Flat, four Chopin studies, Liszt's Twelfth Hungarian Rhapsody,. Liszt's Waldesrauschen, and Backhaus* own arrangement of tho Romnnco from E Minor Concerto (Chopin).
