TRAINS DISCONTINUED.
FRANKTON TO TAURANGA. INSUFFICIENT FREIGHT TAKEN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MORKINSVILLE, Friday. The early morning mixed train from Tauranga, which connects with the Auck-land-bound limited express at Frankton, and the night train from Frankton to Tauranga, which leaves Frankton at 10.30 p.m., are to cease running at the end of this month. The Railway Department considers that the freight carried by these trains can easily be taken by others It is stated that the night train has been running with only a 30 per cent, goods load. A fast goods train from Auckland connects at Frankton with tho 3.30 a.m. goods train for Tauranga, which in future will carry the load previously taken by night train. The trains which are to be discontinued were very convenient to Thames Valley residents, who could make the trip to Auckland and return the same evening.
