This resolution was carried unanimously at a conference of county councils and the Canterbury Automobile Association held todays . Several speakers protested that it was unreasonable that the South Island construction programmo should be hold up because available funds in tho control of the Main Highwavs Board were being used to restore West Coast reads damaged by the earthquake.
