WATER SUPPLY SCHEME.

NIT. WELLINGTON DISTRICT. APPROVAL OF LOANS BOARD,

The Mount Wellington Road Board lias received advice that the Local Government Loans Board has approved of the proposed loan of £20,000 for a water supply scheme for the district, prepared by Mr. E. V. Blakc,_the consulting engi-' neer." The term of the loan has been fixed at 30 years and the Loans Board requires a sinking fund of li per cent. A poll of the ratepayers, will be held about the second week in September and if the proposal is carried it is expected that a supply of water will be availablo to residents by the middle of January. The scheme lias been designed to give a maximum of efficiency at tli£ least possible cost to the ratepayers. It provides for domestic supplies, in addition to reasonable fire-fighting facilities. It k proposed to connect with the city supplies at .Lake Road and to lay a 6in. main through tho centre of the district to the Otahuhu boundary and a further lead toward Panmure to enable that dis-, trict to joiu the scheme at a later dale A A systom of 4in. mains provides for the complete reticulation of the district to every house.
