COMMUNITY SINGING.

Tho popularity of community singing was again demonstrated during the lunch hour yesterday, when over 1500 people gathered in the Town Hall. Mr. Gray Campbell presided and Mr. Leu Barnes, director of IYA, was song loader. A feature of tho programme was a. selection ol English songs by the broadcasting station choir. An appreciated number was a topical duet by Mr. Owen Pritchard and •Mr. Barries. An experimental evening gathering was announced for to-morrow, between 7.30 and 8.30 o'clock, in tho Lewis Eady Hall. The secretary, Mr. W. Woodhead, reminded those present that community singing would bo hold daily next week in connection with the music week festival. A collection was taken up in aid- of charity by a number of business men from tho Rotary Club. Mrs. Barringlon Snow was the accoinpaniste.
