THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. LARGER VOLUME OF BUSINESS. Investment business showed a .substantial revival oil the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, but price levels inn do no recovery. Government securities were again in steady demand at the increased prices offered on Tuesday. Local body debentures were steady. In general prico movements in the banking section tended to ease. Commercials of Australia made a current price sale ai> 20s 3d. Commercials of Sydney had inquiry at £2O ss. English, Scottish and Australians- had salo nl £5 17s, a drop of Is on recent Auckland sales. A parcel of New South WnleA, on tho Sydney register, was released at £36 10s. New Zealands were taken at 55s lid, showing a decline of Id on Into sales. In insurance Australian Provincials were sought at 5s 6d without response from sellers. New Zealand* were released again at 41s 9d. The loan and agency section was quieter. Loan and Mercantiles were dono at £B9, a drop of £6 on the last salo in June. In coals the preference issue of Taupiris had salo at 235, being the first sale of this stock for a considerable period. A salo of Auckland Gas was made at the current prico of 245. In shipping Northern Steams were taken at 14s 3d. Other shipping shares remained steady. A sale of Kauri Timbers at 13s showed a decline of Is on the Inst sale a month ago. Breweries wero firmer, offers for Tooth's and Timaru showing a riso of 6d. New Zealand? wero released again at 60s lOd. In tho miscellaneous section British Tobaccos had salo at 37s 9d. Offers for Robinson's Ice Cream hardened 2s at 225. In mining Waibis made two.sales at 14s 2d, a rise of 2d. Mount Lyells were taken at 22s 4d, Id firmer than lato sales. CLOSING QUOTATIONS.
