(Received August 12, 7.25 p.m.) Times Cable LONDON August 12 The Rome correspondent of the Times states that Monsignor Chiapetta has presented to tho Pope a detailed report of his mission to the area of tho recent earthquakes in Southern Italy. Tho rbport says all the churches in the area wero entirely destroyed or mined and sacred vestments buried, as a result of which it is impossible to hold religious services in most of tho villages. Tho clergy lost all their personal belongings and their position is critical. Monsignor Chiapetta refers to the resignation of the victims. It- is believed that tho Popo is providing funds for tho rebuilding of tho houses of tho parish priests.
