Tho highest herd test recorded Ly the South Auckland Hcrd-festing Association in tho To Awamutu district during the past season was from tho herd of Mr. Peter Heeps, of Waikero Road, Ivihikihi. His herd of 36 cows averaged 354.501b, of butter-fat in 290 days. Included in the herd wero eight first-calvers and ten sccond-calvers. Tho top cow, a four-year-old Jersey, produced 5201b. of fat in 314 days. This was Mr. Ileeps' first year of herd-testing.

PRODUCTION STATEMENT. Tho production statement of tho Electrolytic Zinc Company, of Australasia, Limited, shows that tho production of zinc for tlm four weeks ended Juno 25 amounted to 4259 tons, and for tho four weeks ended July 23 to 4230 tons. Lead production for tho same periods amounted to 353 and 332 tons, and silver production to 47,500 and 40,000 ounces. BULK STORES FOR OIL. BUILDINGS IN HUTT VALLEY. The now depot includes two motor spirit tanks, each with a capacity of 750,000 gallons, a kerosene lank with a capacity of 150,000 gallons, threo intermediate tanks on steel towers with a capacity of 15,000 gallons each, and also several auxiliary buildings and a railway siding. Tho tanks aro connected by an eightinch pipeline with tho Point Howard wharf, at which the tankers will berth. A first visit was paid to this wharf on Saturday by tho tanker Plumo and n lurgo supply of motor spirit, was pumped into tho new tanks. COLDMINING COMPANIES. ATTENTION OF FINANCIERS.
