THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. fIRMER TONE IN EVIDENCE. A larger volumo of business was recorded on the Auckland Stock Exchango yesterday, six transactions taking place, and a firmer tono was in evidence. Buyers of Government stocks in most cases again increased their levels without response from sellers.' War Bonds, 1938, 1939 and 1941, 4£ por cents., wero wanted 5s dearer at £99 15s. Inquiries for Government Bonds, 1933 and 1936, 5£ per cent., showed a decline of 2s 6d at £99. Firm inquiry was maintained for Inscribed Stocks. In banks only small recorded. Australasias wero wanted at £l] 13s, and Nationals of New Zealand at £5 12s. Offers for New South Wales declined 7s 6d at £36 ss. New Zealands made a curront prico sale at 565. In insuranco New Zealands wero released at 41s 9d, a drop of 3d on tho last sale on Friday. Queenslands wero inquired for at 455, sellers quoting 47s 6d. A buyer camo on to tho market for South British at 565. More interest was shown in tho loan and agency soction. Dalgetys wero in demand at £lO, and buyers of Loan and Mercantiles increased their offers to £BB. Two parcels of Auckland Gas sold at tho current price, 245. " In shipping Devonport Steams were wanted at 22s 6d, sellers maintaining their quotations at 24s 3d. Brewery shares were in keen demand, and New Zealands wero taken at 50s lOd, moro being availablo at 51s. In tho miscellaneous section buyers' limits for British Tobacco were increased to 37s 9d. Bycrofls had salo at 345, tho prico realised at tho last salo on July 21. Wilsons Cements wore wanted at 30s 6d without response from sollers. In mining inquiries for Waihis hardened Id to 14s, and for Waihi Grand Junctions Id at 2s Id. Mount Lyells were wanted 6d firmer at 22s Gd. CLOSING QUOTATIONS. Buyers.
