WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
8W ANSON. The monlhlv meeting of '.fie Swanwui Women's Institute was held in (ho local hall recently. The vice-president, Mrs. Buchanan, presided. There was a good attendance of members. Mrs. Tensdale, of Milfnrd, demonstrated the making of cream cheese and other recipes from leftover sour m lit. Nominations for the Provincial Federation annual meeting were handed in and it was decided to send a delegate to the Wellington Dominion conference In the course of a competition a humorous reading by Mrs. W. Taylor, versus by Mrs. I'erris and Mrs Buchanan, and songs by Mrs. G. Taylor ami Mrs. Bond were given. W ARK WORTH. During July the Work worth Institute organised its first public meeting at which Miss Ellen Melville gave an address upon "New Zealand-made Goods." Much interest was shown in the lecture. Recently the institute organised a rose pruning demonstration for the benefit of members and other rose-lovers. Mr. Wm. Hamilton gave a very interesting and thoioughly practical demonstrat on of the subject at the residence of Mrs A S. Carrun After the practical work was over those present wero entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs. Carran and Mrs. Night ingnle.
