POLICE COURT NEWS.
MAN FOUND IN HOTEL. MAGISTRATE IMPOSES FINE. Charged with being found in .1 city hotel without lawful excuse, John Hart, aged 40, barman and labourer. was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, by Mr. F K. Hunt, S.M., in tho Police Court yesterday. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said tho licensee of tho hotel found tho accused lying on a bed in a private room, and ho had no right to be there. The accused had two previous convictions and came out of prison on Monday. A wharf labourer, Edgar James Rteere. aged 59, pleaded not gu.lty to a charge of being disorderly while drank in Queen Street on Monday. Con?!able flnnna said lie saw Stcero jumping about tho footpath and frightening children. The accused would not desist and was arrested. A fino of £1 or three days' imprisonment was imposed Harry Stocklov Ilainsworth, aged 42. pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing four cast-iron channel crossover plates valued at £B, the property of Donnuliy and Company, Limited. The accused was remanded until Tuesday, bail of £2O being allowed.
