Mr. ' Hook's 22-year-old wife has not lost hope. She.says her husband has. had extraordinary escapes and recalls that once he was carried ashoic from a liner in Australia on a stretcher suffering from a severe fever, and recovered, Mrs. Hook has cabled to Mr. Matthews, thanking him for his efforts and declaring that he had done eveiything possible for her husband.
