PROPOSALS FOR A SITE.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER.
A delegation Jroiu tho Auckland Univeisitv C v.'lletAO and tho Auckland City Council will wait on the Minister of Education, the Hon. 11. At more, at Well - ingtoa on Thursday to lay before him proposals tor using the old Grammar JScliool site in Symuiids Street for the erection of a university tine arts building and municipal ait gallery. The selienio lias been under discussion for a time, the City Council being interested because of the great overcrowding in the central Public Library, Art Gallery and Old Colonists' Museum, which al present share the same building. If a new art gallery were erected, the existing building would be almost wholly available for library purposes The delegation will consist of Sir George Cowlds, president of the University College, Mr. M. K. O'She.i, registrar, Miss K Melville, cliairrnar- of the City Conn cii Library Committee, Mr. 11. P. Hurton, a member of the committee, and Mr. J. Man, chief librarian and director of the, art gal levy.
