GUARD'S VAN DERAILED.
MISHAP NEAR RANGIRIRI.
MORNING TRAFFIC DELAYED.
BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPOND 2'• T.] HAMILTON, Monday.
The derailment of the guard's van as it was being shunted on to l'irth's siding, midway between Rangiriri and Ohinewai, shortly after six o'clock this morning, was responsible for a dfjlay of nearly two and a-half hours to the mixed Herald train which left Auckland for Frankton Junction at '4 a.m.
The mishap is believed to have been caused by the iron rim becoming detached from one of the wheels of the van. The papers were transferred to one of the carriages and the train resumed its journey at half-past eight, reaching Frankton Junction at 915 a.m. Little damage to either the van or the peimanent way resulted from the derailment.
