A progressive and stationary bridge afternoon was held at tho bowlers' pavilion on Friday by the members of the Devonport Rowling Green Croquet Club. A large number of players attended. The prizes wero won by Mrs. Buchanan for progressive and Mrs. Binsted for stationary bridge. Mrs. Blackmail won the eonsolation prize. Afternoon tea was served later by tho members of tho club.

Miss Elsie Andrews, Dominion president of the Women Teachers' Association, will be the guest of the. Auckland branch at a social gathering in the institute clubroom, Wellesley Street school, this afternoon. She leaves on Tuesday by tho Aoranp to represent the association at the Honolulu Pan-Pacific Conference. Whilo in Auckland -Misses Andrews, Kirton and Anthony, all of New Plymouth, will be staying at Stonehurst.
