Numerous ;iro the superstitious concerning tho magic properties of tho sapphire. Buddhists e\en to day ascribe a certain power to it, and believe that it reconciles man with God. It has been worn by Italians to ward off eye complaints. Helen of Troy considered it a potent love charm.
And if Eve, runs another superstition, had only had a sapphire ring in tho Garden of Eden sho would have kept out of trouble. For no serpent can look upon a sapphire and hold up its head.
