CASINO IN IRELAND.
LUXURY SCHEME AT BRAY.
Ambitious in the extreme is & schema to attract a mass of Continental and other vistiors to Ireland, which is sponsored by a group of English financiers. It is intended to make of Bray, the seaside resort 12 miles from Dublin, a veritable Monte Carlo.
What is now a bare patch of land nearly 1000 ft. above sea lovel will soon be a paradiso of flowering gardens, fountains, lawns and houses. A plan to develop Bray Head at a cost of £60,000 lias already been launched.
Tho construction of an aerial railway to the summit of Bray Head has been approved and will be begun at ouco. On the summit, near tho top station of tho ropeway, a first-clas3 hotel is to be built. It will contain a swimming bath, squash racket courts, ballroom and theatre. But tha greatest attraction will be the casino. Steps are being takon to secure tho necessary permission from tho Dail. Tho building will bo proceeded with immediately iu tlio hopo that the licence will bo obtained when completed. The motivo power for tho railway will bo supplied by current from tho Shannon hydro-electric scheme. Tho lino will run from tho footbridge overlooking Naylor's bathing placo to Eagle's Nest on Bray Head. It will bo half a milo in length and will riso to a height of 200 ft.
Provision has been made for a further extension of the railway along the top of tho Head.
The railway itself is to cost about £20,000. Two carriages, each carrying 24 passengers, will be operated. The idea of developing the Head camo from a local resident, and the English company has a Lancashire-Irishman at its head.
