OBITUARY.

COLONEL CUTHBERT JAMES. i,oxnox, July 21. The death has occurred of LieutenantColonel Cut libeit .James, Conservative member of the House of Commons for Bromley since 1919, ami formerly of the Sudan Adniinistration. Lieutenant-Colonel Cuthbcrt dames was lioni in 1872, second son of the late, Lord Northbourno. 110 was at Harrow and Oxford, and joined the Army in 1894. Russell, wife of Archdeacon Russell, of Oamarti, took place at Harrow, in the presence of the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir Thomas Wilford, Lady Wilford and Mr. T. ('. He married Miss Caroline Cafhrop, daughter of Ha.nser Sheppard. Archdeacon and Mis. Russell went Home a few months ago, largely on account of the health of Mrs. Russell, which had not been good for some" time. MRS. F. WALLIS. LONDON, July 01. The death is announced of Mrs. F. Wallis, widow of Dr. F. W'allis, Into Bishop of Wellington. She became ill at sea on her way to London. Her elder daughter arrived a day too late to see her mother alive. Tho Rev. A. Ridsdale and also l)r. C. West-Wat-son, Bishop of Christchurch, officiated at flic burial.

Dr. Wall is became Bishop of Wellington in 1895, and retired in 1911, and was later Archdeacon of Wilts and of Sherborne. lie married in 1&94 Miss Margaret Williams, daughter of Colonel U, Williams, M.P., of Dorsetshire.
