ENGINEER PLEADS GUILTY.

Augusto John Barbarel, an engineer, aged 25, was committed to tho Supreme Court for sentence on the forgery charges. Sentence on the theft charge was deferred. Barbarel had pleaded guilty. The facts were that Barbarel stole his father-in-law's Post Oflico Savings Bank lx>ok, and forged signatures to 12 withdrawal slips. Over a period of four months ho obtained .£221. 7he owner was nimble to find his bank book and reported the loss to the post office authorities. A watch was then set for the forger. Kvidence was also given that on the last occasion a brother of the accused. Edgar Arthur Barbarel. a labourer, aged 20, presented a withdrawal slip for .CIO. He was charged with attempting to utter a withdrawal receipt for £lO, knowing the receipt to be torged. lie pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
