Furkort, lias rcplied to ait inquiry by the New Plyniouih Borough Council stating that ho knows of no reason why the department should not fulfil its contract to supply the borough with power from Waikaremoana from about October 1, 1931. Tho linking up of Waikarcmoaua with tho Arnpuni system to cope with the present emergency was not practical, said Mr. Furkort, owing to tho length of time it would take. Even if connection wero. made between the northern and southern systems, to cope with the growth of tho load in tho northern area, this would not affect the supply to the borough of tho amount of power, the Government had contracted lor.
