AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

SUPERB ILLUSTRATIONS. MANY STRIKING FEATURES. World-famous for its remarkably fine illustrations, the Auckland Weekly News consistently maintains its proud position as New Zealand's premier pictorial journal. The current issue, on sale to-day, is well up to tho high standard which has won such a splendid reputation for the paper.

One of tho outstanding subjects in this week's number is a very complete pictorial record of the striking tribute paid by all sections of tho community at the funeral of tho late Sir Joseph Ward in the South Island. Included in a most comprehensive series arc photographs taken at Oamaru, Timaru, Ashburton, Temuka, Invercargill

and Bluff. Tho passing of another distinguished New Zealander is also recorded by a page of extremely interesting scenes of tho public and homo life of tho lata Sir Robert Stout.

News items from many parts of the Dominion are portrayed by the camera in tho large pictorial section. Auckland's brilliant Rugby victory over the visiting British footballers is generously illustrated. Besides a series of thrilling incidents of play, there are many interesting sidelights depicted, with several superb pictures of tho dense crowds of spectators. Among the latter hundreds of faces can be recognised clearly. A fine studio photograph of Auckland's victorious fifteen is also included. Other items of

interest to the many followers of sport arc "Riding to Hounds with the Waiknto Hunt"; Australian cricketers received, by the King and Queen, and point-to-point racing in Canterbury. As usual tho miscellaneous pages are brimful of interesting topics, as varied as I hev aro striking. Outstanding among tlieso aro the following:—The GovernorGeneral's visit to Lincoln College; tho Kanchenjunga Expedition to tho Himalayas; cross-country running for girl athletes in the Wairarapa district; progress of the South Island Main Trunk railway; large passenger liner destroyed by lire; anxiety for the Bridge of Remembrance in Christchurch; London's tribute to a great French soldier; building the new Anglican cathedral at Nelson; clearing bush lands in the King Country; and students' revels on capping day in Duuedin.
