DISPOSAL OF WOOL.

AUCKLAND SALE TO-DAY.

SMALL QUANTITY OF FLEECE

What was intended to bo a winter wool sale, supplementary to the Auckland sales on tho regular roster for the past season, is to take placo at the Chamber of Commerce to-day, commencing at 1 p.m. On account of the continued reluctance of growers to release the wool which was held back from the earlier sales, to-day's fixture will be practically only a sale of oddments, such as takes place in tho ordinary course each winter. Nearly 10,000 bales of wool remained in brokers' and growers' hands after the regular sales had concluded, but only between 100 and 150 bales of fleece aro to be offered to-day. Tho balance of tho catalogue of 680 bales consists of crutchings, pieces and other oddments. Th_o carry-over of wool for tho wholo Dominion was over 140,000 bales. Tho series of winter sales so far has not reduced this to any great extent, the catalogues totalling only a few thousands of bales. At tho first sale, held in Wellington on June 17, prices showed a rise of from Jjrd to jjd on thoso ruling at the last of the roster sales in April. At the subsequent winter sales the offerings were smaller than at Wellington and values tended to be weaker. It is understood that a number of the buyers who usually attend the .Auckland sales will be represented by their local agents to-day. Visiting buyers include Mr. F. Avent, Mr. H. Piat and Mr. Watson Dawson, who are at the Hotel Cargen. The offering at tho third Auckland sale, on March 23, was 15,728 bales. At the second sale, held in January, tho cata logue comprised 20,636 bales.
