CROPS IN CANTERBURY.
PREPARATIONS ADVANCED.
As a result of the long spell of dry weather in Canterbury work in preparation for next year's crops is at present further forward than it has been for some years. Tho weather has been almost ideal for tho preparation of tho land. All over Canterbury tho country is looking well and autumn-sown crops are well forward. Frost has retarded growth to a certain extent, but all crops so far sown look healthy. Farmers are now desiring rain as the fall so far this year is well behind tho average.
