The fortnightly meeting of the I'on£.1)11 by branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in St. Stephen's Hall on Thursday afternoon. Miss Read presided. It. was reported that 11 ladies had helped at. the W.C.T.U. stall at the Winter Show, and a great many temperance pledges had Leen signed by children and young people. Mrs. Cox. secretary of the Grey Lynn branch, sang a solo during the afternoon. Miss Kyle, of Mount Albert I nion, spoke of her Loyal Temperance Legion work in connection with the school children of the Mount Albert district. She stated that the work was very encouraging, and she was anxious to have similar classes started in schools of other districts. Afternoon te;i brought the afternoon to a close.
