NORFOLK ISLAND TRADE.
NO GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY.
No subsidy is to be granted by tho Government to tho new Norfolk IslandNew Zealand service that has been opened by the steamor Hikurangi. The owners of tho vessel recently approached tho Minister of Industries and Commerce, tho Hon. P. A. do la Perrclle, with a request for assistance, and tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce also wrote supporting the application. A reply was received from tho Minister yesterday, stating that after taking all factors into consideration the Government could not see its way to comply with the request.
