Miss Dorothy Thornell, of Kaitaia, was adjudged queen of the Rugby Union queen carnival, amid great enthusiasm. Miss Bella Evans, of Awanui, was second. The financial result was £4OB for the Mangonui queen ? £229 for Uie K;iitaiu queen and £179 for the Awanui queen.
